How do I make a box STL for my 3D printer without CAD?
Open Box Maker, enter the outer length, width and height in millimetres, set the wall and floor thickness, pick your printer and download the 3MF (or an STL). The file opens in any slicer.
What is the inside size of a 50 × 40 × 30 mm box with 2 mm walls?
With 2 mm walls and a 2 mm floor, the inside is 46 × 36 mm and 28 mm deep.
Does Box Maker make lids?
No. It makes open-top boxes only.
Are the sizes inside or outside measurements?
Outside. The inside space is the length and width minus two walls, and the height minus the floor. The tool shows the inside size as you type.
How many files can I download?
Three a month on the free plan, in any format. On paid plans you can download as many as you like. Screenshots are always free.
What wall thickness should I use?
Use a multiple of your line width. With a 0.4 mm nozzle, 1.6 mm (4 lines) suits light storage and 2 to 2.4 mm gives a sturdy box.
