Welcome to MakeMyIdea. These terms are the agreement between you and MakeMyIdea ("we", "us") for using MakeMyIdea, its website and its tools. We wrote them to be read, not skimmed past.
Who can use MakeMyIdea
In shortAgree to these terms to use MakeMyIdea. You need to be an adult, or have a parent's OK, to buy a plan.
By creating an account or using a tool, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use MakeMyIdea.
You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a plan. If you're younger, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
Your account
In shortKeep your login to yourself, and tell us if something looks wrong.
- Use a real email address, so you can sign in and get receipts.
- Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
- One account is for one person. Don't share your login or resell access.
- If you think someone else has used your account, email hello@makemyidea.com straight away.
You can sign in with an email and password, or with Google when it's offered.
Plans and prices
In shortPrices are in Canadian dollars. US dollar amounts are only a guide.
- Every price is in Canadian dollars (CAD), and Stripe charges you in CAD. US dollar amounts on the site are approximate conversions; your bank sets the final rate.
- If tax applies, you'll see it at checkout before you pay.
- We can change prices for new purchases. If you pay monthly or yearly, you keep your price for as long as your subscription stays active.
- Founding Member offers have a limited number of seats. When they're gone, they're gone.
Renewals and cancelling
In shortMonthly and yearly plans renew until you cancel. Cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically at the same price, on the card you gave Stripe.
- Cancel any time from Billing. Your plan won't renew, and you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- After that, your account moves to Free and the free tools keep working. We don't delete your saved projects when a plan ends.
If a payment fails
In shortYou get 3 days to fix a failed renewal before paid tools pause.
Lifetime deals and founding seats
In shortPay once and keep access for as long as MakeMyIdea offers that plan or tool.
- A lifetime plan, founding seat or per-tool lifetime deal is one payment. It never renews and you're never charged for it again.
- "Lifetime" means for as long as MakeMyIdea offers that plan or tool. It isn't a promise that a tool will exist forever.
- A per-tool lifetime deal covers that one tool, including its future updates. Members may see a lower member price on tools outside their plan.
- If we ever close a tool you bought outright, we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead.
Refunds
In shortAll sales are final. We don't give refunds, except where the law says we must.
Try the free tools and free limits before you buy. You get access the moment you pay, so all sales are final and we don't give refunds, full or partial, including for unused time on a plan you cancel.
This doesn't take away any rights you have under the consumer protection law where you live.
If you dispute a charge with your bank, we may pause the access it paid for while the dispute is open.
What you make is yours
In shortYour files and designs belong to you. Free and Pro are for personal use; Commercial lets you sell what you make.
- The files, numbers and designs you make with a tool are yours. We don't claim any ownership of them.
- Free, Pro and per-tool lifetime deals are for personal use: your own prints, gifts and hobby projects.
- To sell prints or files made with the tools, or use them for client work, you need the Commercial plan. It gives you a commercial-use licence for everything you make while it's active, and things you made or sold in that time stay licensed after it ends.
- The tools, the website, and our name and logo belong to MakeMyIdea. Using a tool doesn't give you the right to copy or resell it.
Using the tools fairly
In shortUse the tools to print things, not to break or copy them.
Please don't:
- try to get into accounts, data or parts of the site that aren't yours;
- overload the site, scrape it in bulk, or work around plan limits;
- copy, resell or rebuild the tools, or share paid access;
- upload files you don't have the right to use, or anything illegal.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If you think we got it wrong, email hello@makemyidea.com and we'll look again.
Check before you print
In shortThe tools give estimates. Check results before you print, quote or sell.
The tools work out sizes, costs and checks from what you enter. Printers, filaments and slicers all vary, so treat every result as a starting point and check it before you print, quote or sell.
We provide MakeMyIdea as it is. We work hard to keep it accurate and online, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
Limits on our liability
In shortIf something goes wrong, the most we owe you is what you paid us in the last 12 months.
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, failed prints, wasted filament or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid MakeMyIdea in the 12 months before the claim.
Keep your own copies of important files. Free projects live only in your browser, so clearing your browser data deletes them.
Closing your account
In shortEmail us to close your account. Closing it doesn't refund any payment.
You can stop using MakeMyIdea at any time. To close your account and delete its data, email hello@makemyidea.com from the address you signed up with. Closing an account doesn't refund any payment.
We may close an account that breaks these terms, or end the service with reasonable notice.
Changes to these terms
In shortIf we change something important, we'll tell you first.
We update these terms when MakeMyIdea changes, and the date at the top shows the current version. For important changes, we'll tell you on the site or by email before they take effect. If you keep using MakeMyIdea after that, you accept the new terms.
