# Make your first box

Box Maker makes an open-top box from five numbers. It takes about a minute.

**In a hurry?** Pick one of the examples above the sizes (a sticky note holder, an AA battery box, a drawer tray and more) and change it to suit.

1. **Enter the outside size.** Length, width and height in millimetres, from 10 to 300 mm each. These are outside measurements, so the box fits the drawer or shelf it's going into.
2. **Set the walls and floor.** 2 mm is a sturdy default. The inside size updates as you type.
3. **Check the preview.** Drag to turn the box, scroll or pinch to zoom. The **Top**, **Front** and **Side** buttons show flat views with the sizes marked.
4. **Pick your printer and settings** under the preview. A green line means it fits your printer's bed.
5. **Download.** The orange button gives you a 3MF set up for your printer; **STL** and **GLB** are beside it.

Give the box a name before downloading and the file is named after it, like `drawer-tray-kobra-x.3mf`.

## Saving a design

Press **Save box** to keep the sizes so you can change them later. Saved boxes are listed under the preview; click one to load it. **Save as a new box** keeps both versions.

On the free plan, saved boxes stay in this browser. On a paid plan they're in your account.
